Turning architectural expertise into a searchable knowledge system.
Buildofy documents Indian architecture in unusual depth. The opportunity was not simply to publish more content; it was to make that existing expertise easier to discover through non-branded search.
Architecture search demand is fragmented.
People search through location, size, design style, typology, material, construction approach and architectural vocabulary. A publication can contain the right knowledge but still fail to expose it through the pathways people actually use.
What we saw.
Existing pages could be aligned to meaningful non-branded searches, while new pages should be created only where search demand and editorial logic justify a distinct destination.
This was an information-architecture problem before it was a content-volume problem.
What we changed.
- Use existing pages to answer relevant non-branded searches.
- Create new search-led pages where durable demand justifies them.
- Organise geographic discovery through state/region pages.
- Connect architectural themes and typologies to project content.
- Use Buildopedia as a knowledge layer for architectural terminology.
- Strengthen internal pathways between projects, topics, locations and definitions.
The emerging knowledge model.
- PROJECT
- ARCHITECT
- LOCATION
- TYPOLOGY
- DESIGN CONCEPT
- ARCHITECTURAL TERM
What it unlocked.
A website that can increasingly behave like an architecture knowledge system — not simply a collection of projects.
The larger lesson.
The most valuable SEO asset is not always more content. Sometimes it is better structure around the expertise you already have.
Have specialist knowledge that search cannot yet see clearly?
We should probably talk about the architecture before we talk about more articles.
